Description

Soulton Hall, in the county of Shropshire, has a long and interesting history. Indeed the Manor of Suleton features in the Domesday Book of 1086 and the site of the original moated castle or fortified manor house may still be seen nearby. The Hall itself is built of Tudor Brick and incorporates an olderhouse containing timbers which may well have been taken from the original building. Rowland Hill, the first Protestant Lord Mayor of London, bought Soulton in 1556. It was his descendant, Thomas Hill, a High Sherriff of Shropshire, who in 1668 placed his marital coat of arms above the front door. Each room has its own character with many architectural features dating back to the 16th century. Chester, Ironbridge, Shrewsbury and the Castles of North Wales are within easy reach.
