Standing in Front Street close to the beautiful medieval St. Edmund's church, the Dun Cow Inn is a popular meeting place in the village. Being only 2 miles from Jct.60 on the A1(M) it is easy to reach whether you are breaking a journey, or are stopping to enjoy the races, the village, the countryside or whether you are doing business in nearby Middlesborough, Darlington or Stockton. Sedgefield, whilst called a village, is one of the old market towns of the North East, having received its Charter in 1312 from Bishop Kellawe and although the old markets have now ceased, the village holds a Mediaeval Fayre on the 3rd Saturday in May which is popular with locals and visitors alike.
